"From Day One, Be Untouchable" is the quote that this commercial chooses to base it's content on. In the beginning of the commercial, it shows different athletes and their own individual sports. For each player, it shows either one of two things: 1.) the first day of opening practice or 2.) the first day of opening practice and what they are 'mentally' struggling with.
One of those athletes was a girl who engages in soccer. The commercial shows her rubbing her torn ACL scar. She 'mentally' struggles with whether or not she will still be able to perform at a competitive level with the rest of her team. Throughout the commercial it shows her overcoming that adversity throughout the first day of practice. Also, at the end of one of her drills, one of her teammates pats her on the back as a gesture for 'good job', which obviously encourages her because a smile immediately covers her face. Another athlete was a male high school basketball player. He also struggled with a ‘mental’ obstacle. He was exceeding shorter than the other boys and this taunted him. At the fist day of workouts, he’s the first one on the gym, but when everyone else arrives, he immediately stops and stares because he doesn’t know how it’s going to turn out for him. Then in a drill later in the practice, he’s called out by a coach to go out on the ort and participate in the drill. At first he’s stunned, but then he quickly adjusts. In fact he starts to look like he’s running the court, maybe even a leader. One of the coaches gives him a quick compliment and he continues with the drill. The doubting mindset quickly disappear for him and feels like he’s finally apart of the team. For this commercial, it’s not all about the gear for the athletes. It’s about having the complete mindset and heart full of confidence. It’s about not being intimidated by the ability of others, but instead showing others you are just as capable, maybe even more, as they are. You don’t get confidence you earn and create it. You earn and create it by doing what it takes to get where ever you’re trying to go. |
