Dancing with the heart
Mia Michaels, the speaker, is specifically targeting dancers. The message that he is relaying is: If you let out the emotion that you feel in your heart when you dance, your body will do the job of conveying it. If you look the the picture closely, her legs are very strong and flexed while her arms are very poise and relaxed. This allows you to safely assume that her emotions are calm yet powerful. Your dancing and the movements of your body connect best when you are personally involved.
Many people tend to hold their emotions in on a normal day to day basis. When you dance, that is the time that you should allow your emotions to control you. Allow your emotions to make the decision of when to leap, when to jump, and when to fall. It relates so much to life. Your attitude and actions are based off how you feel that day, and this is what Michaels wants dancers to do when they dance. He wants the dancer to let what they feel affect their performance. When the audience sees that emotion, they become intrigued and involved with the dance also. When your heart is involved in anything, everything else will fall in line where it belongs.

Same moves different identity
In this video, I only want you to watch the first group. The song itself is a very powerful song about the flaws of us as humans and how easily we can be broken down. This particular choreographed routine has the same moves for everyone, but there are parts where the dancers can add in a taste of their own. If you watch carefully at each dancer, you will notice how each dancer moves differently. Some have a more powerful movement while others are soft and slow. The dancers use the movement of their body and the significance of the music to emotionally affect the audience.
The dancers use a lyrical dance style to go with the music. Lyrical dancing is very soft and emotional, but it is also powerful at the same time. It is also one of the most used dances to express emotion. Seeing that the song is slow and emotional, it goes well with the choreography. This is what makes each dancer unique because in lyrical dancing, no dancer will move or look exactly the same. The dancers' facial expression are very plain. They put no emotion there because it is important for you to look pass the looks and focus on the moves that are being made. Identifying someone means looking deeper than their outside appearance. Dancing allows their character and emotions to come out from deep within rather than just showing the obvious. It challenges the audience to find the deeper meaning in the movements and not focus on appearance. Some dancers hit the moves sharp on while others take their time to make the moves last, expressing their emotions differently. This affects which dancer the audience actually connects with. The one that expresses and attracts you the most is your own identity through dance. Not every dancer has the same identity, and those variety of identities are expressed through each dancer's unique movements.
I encourage you to go back and watch the video, and find the dancer that most connects to you. What about the style of the dancer best expresses you? Feel free to comment.
